Funko Funko FUNKO!!!!!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will be arriving really really soon!!!!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I so don't want to see my Visa bill. I paid it off. I was a good girl. But then, I saw that Funko made the next series of Game of Thrones vinyl Pop figures. What's a girl to do?

I also pre-ordered the 3rd graphic novel that comes out this March. Totally stoked to get that delivered. And of course, I ordered a few Game of Thrones accompanying essay type books.

My husband gave me a Valentine's Day note last night that sums it up perfectly:

"I love it when...you freak out over anything GAME OF THRONES."

Oh, bless his heart. It takes a patient man to put up with the stubborn, sassy likes of me!

50 days, fan of the realm!!!

Dangerous Women

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

I have been thinking lately of all the times when I used to make fun of my older brothers. They were and still are huge Stark Trek and Star Wars fans. While I totally loved Star Wars, I couldn't get into the Trekkie thing. Both of my brothers collected the toys, figurines, magazines - anything with the Star Trek crew.

The turn of the tide has come full circle - as I look back on the past few years and look at the incredible amount of A Song of Ice and Fire collectibles that I have purchased. I have spent a small fortune on books, magazines, graphic novels, exhibition tickets, drinking steins, magazines, detailed map books, Funko Vinyl figures mugs, shot glasses, hats, graphic prints, framed portraits, essay books and plushie dolls.

If that wasn't bad enough, I read last night on 109 We Come from the Future an article about GRRM and hos he weaves yet another compelling tale about the politics of war and how much dragons play a part in his newest novella, "Dangerous Women."

My poor husband. I already told him that he has to order the third round of Funko Dolls for Valentine's Day next year. Now this.

Dangerous, indeed, for a woman like me!

E's Game of Thrones, by the Numbers!!

03-31-13 is Getting Closer

Happy New Year!

I am so pleased...88 days left to go! Just finished writing another Game of Thrones article for the fabulous site, http://hbowatch.com/.

In addition to driving everyone around me a little bit bonkers about how Season III is approaching, I finished my "Game of Thrones Season One Essays" book by Pearson Moore. When can we expect the next book for Season II?! I also put the next installment of the GoT graphic novel on my Amazon wish list. I have to wait until June 2013 like everyone else but that's alright. By that time, I will have watched the third season (like millions of other fans), so I will be placated.

I wonder if there will be another teaser trailer coming out anytime soon? I seem to recall that last year, around this time, the "Cold Winds" teaser promo was out on YouTube and on HBO. I remember the first one, "The night is dark and full of terrors." I remember freaking out and saying to my husband and friends..."WHAT?! That's it?! 15 seconds?! Nooooooo!!"

A year has passed. I am a little calmer where Game of Thrones is concerned. I have learned to be a little more patient. Of course, it totally helps that I now have in my possession the "Inside the Making of Game of Thrones" book by HBO. Amazing read, by the way. And yes, I bought two copies of it. One for me, that only I get to read. The other, for anyone else who wants to look at it. It's a silly little kink of mine. Hey, it keeps me happy!

88 days until Game of Thrones on the tele....88 days to go, cross on off the calendar now, than it'll be 87 days until Game of Thrones on the tele....

:D

Um, did I mention that I am up to almost 3000 pins on my "A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones" board on Pinterest?

I NEED That Graphic Novel!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

YUP!!!  Less than 150 days to go, y'all.  Went to the local Chapters to purchase the second A Song of Ice and Fire graphic novel and THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT!!!

Whyyyyyyyy?!  I came home and my husband promptly told me to "Quit being so dramatic. You just got hired as a full time teacher, you're healthy and you'll be debt free soon enough. You'll get the book in a week or so."

Remind me not to whine in his presence ever again!

PS - I'm not letting him have any of my Game of Thrones cake, once the Season Premiere rolls around in March 2013! Hmph! Lol.

My Game of Thrones Obsession

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

Like everyone else out there who enjoys reading the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books by George R R Martin, I consider myself enamoured of the series - the books and the HBO show.

So, what to do during these long seven months to get by?

Well, I have A Dance with Dragons and have just started it. I also have Pearson Moore's Season One Game of Thrones Essays to read, as well. Something else that will keep me occupied is getting my hands of the Tales of Dunk and Egg. That's a compilation of three books to keep me busy. The second Game of Thrones graphic novel comes out  in November, so you know that will end up on my bookshelf.

I also have this blog. I also have character pieces to write for HBO Watch. Maybe throw in a Comic Con in one day! My Pinterest board will be updated every month. At last count, I had 2346 pins on my "A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones" board. Apparently, I have something like 44 followers because of that board. That's pretty flattering.

I can also have Season I and II viewing marathons. Of course, I do not share the burden alone. Millions of fans eagerly await what Season III has in store for us.

At least we can all surf on the Internet and read the latest press releases about the upcoming season.

I need a job! For real! Full time employment would definitely keep me preoccupied. That way I won't endlessly drone on and on friends and family. Not that I drone on, but if someone brings up Game of Thrones, well, naturally I get a little enthusiastic about the topic.

Well, wouldn't you?! :)

The Hedge Knight

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

The next book which will eventually grace my bookshelf will be "The Hedge Knight."

Of course, I'm actually trying to convince my husband that spending almost $300 on the first novel, especially seeing that it's hardcover and in 'very good condition, like new' is an investment.

Somehow, I don't think he's going to buy my line.

So, before I get really upset with him, I have to stop - he DID pre-order the next Game of Thrones graphic novel, which is due out this November. I am pretty impressed that he actually preordered it for, to tell you the truth.

Alas, I will order the next two novels in George R R martin's "The Hedge Knight" series. I can order them brand new or used from Amazon Canada.

Still thinking how to order "The Hedge Knight" without raising suspicion. After all, I need to have something in my possession before reading "A Dance with Dragons." The problem is this: whenever I have a fantastic novel to read, I start, then plow right through it. I don't know why, but I believe that personally, whipping though a novel is a sign of its' success. I must learn to slow down and appreciate the novels, because it's not a race!

Maybe I'll ask my mom and dad....for Christmas...I want a book. Not just ANY book....but...

John Picacio

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

I came across an artist named John Picacio. His work in a word: OUTSTANDING. I consider myself to have some talent, where drawing and painting are concerned.

Well, not anymore! He has some beautiful portraits of the characters in "A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones." Well done, sir! *loud applause*

I am so going to follow this guy on Twitter! I love anything and everything associated to George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series! Please, if you follow my blog, take the time and click on the link called "John Picacio Website." This man is VERY talented!

A Feast for Crows

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Officially started reading "A Feast for Crows." This is - for those of you who don't know - the fourth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, written by George R. R. Martin. So far, it was a little slow for me, I think because I'm still watching the second season and don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Then again, I really do enjoy reading about new characters and seeing how the story line is developing. I'll think I'll just stay the course.

"Seven Devils"

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

For everyone who started watching all of the Game of Thrones trailers, I have to say that the best one they came out with was the one titled, "Seven Devils." Why? Because the trailer captures the corruption, the desolation of some of the locations, the isolation some of the characters feel, the peril some of them face firsthand and the sheer determination of the characters. The music in the trailer is from a group called Florence and the Machine. The good folks at HBO could not have picked a more perfect piece of music to reflect the mood for the second season. Thanks to the trailer, Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" track on YouTube has picked up a lot more visitors! You go, Flo!

A New Generation of GoT Fans

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

It just occurred to me: George R. R. Martin wrote the first three books of "A Song of Fire and Ice" in the late 1990's and early 2000s. Which means that when book number four and five came out, people began to flock to those ones just as quick! Of course, with HBO creating and producing the hit series "Game of Thrones" in April 2011 and 2012, the audience for his literary works has now doubled, or perhaps tripled. I am a fan, no doubt.

Soon, there will be a new member in my family, a nephew (who is due anyday now) and you know what that means, don't you? I'm going to have to purchase his first Game of Thrones t-shirt, lunchbox, bottle, etc. When I was little, both my older brothers and I were major "Star Wars" fans. We had the bedsheets, the toys, the lego and the lunchboxes. Three cheers for "Star Wars" & "Game of Thrones!" May the fans carry on all the funny and silly traditions that go along with popular films and book series!

A Game of Thrones: Graphic Novel

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

I just purchased the first of George R.R. Martin's "A Game of Thrones" graphic novels. He has approved them being created and the they will be sold in volumes. I purchased volume I and it did not disappoint. The adaptation is by Daniel Abraham and the art is done by Tommy Patterson. There is a pretty in-depth preface by George R. R. himself. For people who don't want to read the books, this will provide them with the opportunity to read the story in a different medium. The graphics and art are amazing. New fans will be sure to add this to their collection. Outstanding! Can't wait for the next Volume to come out!

GRRM Website

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

George R. R. Martin has his own website. This is a spectacular feat - he lists all his likes, what he's reading, letters/pictures from fans, book signings, a Game of Thrones countdown ticker, a merchandise icon, etc. http://georgerrmartin.com You can even read his blog - which is called 'Not A Blog.' His e-mail is grrm@georgerrmartin.com in case you want to e-mail him a picture, a comment, a letter, etc. He is a very busy man at the moment, doing all sorts of press junkets in Europe and across the United States, so if he doesn't respond back to any e-mail you've sent, don't take offence. He just takes his time (like with writing his books). However, he always delivers a quality response back (just like his books, you get a product of HIGH quality). :)
