Leaked Phots & Clips - Jaime, Margaery & Tommen

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

YESSSS

Leaked photos and footage of what's going to go DOWN in King's Landing, especially with Margaery, the Faith Militant and Jaime!!!

I love the folks over at Watchers on the Wall, because they get all the awesome information ahead of time. And I love them all the more for it.

Check out Daddy Tyrell's feather plume. It's so fabulous! News like this makes me happy because it's September, Winter is Coming and the days are passing by. Not that I'm wishing time away or anything like that, but I can handle Season Six being less than 7 months away.

This footage and seeing Jaime.....OMG does this mean what I think it does?!

And is Grandma Olenna coming back to lay the smack down on that evil witch, Cersei? OH I SURE HOPE SOOOO!!!

Littlefinger & Lysa: A Match Made in...

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Hell.

Those two are just so evil, and they totally deserve each other! Fans finally find out just exactly who murdered poor Jon Arryn.....his darling, devoted wife, Lysa Arryn. And how she basically started the lies and the machine that created hostilities between House Stark and Lannister.

Can we say 'green eyed monster?' Not for a second did I believe anything that came out of her mouth when she was speaking to Sansa, who will be going by Alayne. How convenient that Lysa and Petyr are together now, and we find out that long ago, they had been intimate with each other. Except that Lysa is a poor substitute for Catelyn and (ew) Sansa. And HOW creepy was it to watch Lysa flip out on Sansa?! Jealous, much? Controlling and insecure, hmm that sounds like the Lady of the Vale. Although, I have to say that I am finally starting to warm up to Sansa. She is learning the value of deception. If she can continue to lie and put on one heck of a performance, then perhaps she will start to develop a love of intrigue. And get good at it.

And how about Cersei, sucking up to Margaery, Tywin and....Oberyn (!). It doesn't take much to realize why....because she wants Tyrion dead and also because (gasp!) House Lannister NEEDS House Tyrell on their side. Something about the Iron Bank of Braavos. I wouldn't want to be in debt to them, that's for sure.

They sound pretty omninous.

Dany staying behind makes sense, as she needs to rule those she means to liberate and show that she can and will develop good leadership and diplomatic skills. You have to wonder how it is that the folks in King's Landing are made aware of her every move....hm, perhaps there is a spy in her midst?

Hopefully Tommen and Margaery get married REAL soon. As for Arya, loved the water dance sequence but totally disliked the Hound for smacking her. I have a feeling that the next batch of episodes are going to get really interesting....

The Purple Wedding

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Long live the King!

King Tommen, first of his name! In case you didn't already think of this, Tommen is next in line and the only living son left. The BIG difference between Joffrey and Tommen, is that Tommen has no evil bone or thought in his body. We all know how Joffrey was.

So many feelings associated with the epic Purple Wedding. Who killed Joffrey? What was the motive? Who will gain from it? And how well did everyone sleep after knowing that King Joffrey, the sick, sociopath and malevolent King was now dead?

So many things that went on this episode and you can read my episode review of The Lion and The Rose on the HBO Watch website.

A lot of speculation as to who killed Joffrey. Interesting to note that Joffrey went out of his way to deliberately insult so many people at his wedding feast, including his own uncle, his aunt through marriage, his brother in law, his own wife and others.

Wicked respect to Prince Oberyn Martell and his equally sensuous paramour, Ellaria Sand, who boldly put Tywin AND Cersei in the dirt with their pointed remarks. Well played, Oberyn.

The smug sense of satisfaction that I felt in knowing that we wouldn't have to put up with that depraved jerk ever again kept me grinning from ear to ear.

We still have Cersei and Ramsay Snow to put up with. Patience is a virtue. And Karma always comes back.

Always.

Game of Thrones: A Foreshadowing

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

A preview designed to give fans of the realm a little taste of what is coming in April did not disappoint! Love the sets, the costumes and the behind the scenes questions and answers with the actors and actresses.

We are now officially under the 2 month mark. Which is a good thing, because the winter has been long. Too much frigid arctic air masses and not enough sunshine.

So stoked for April 6! :)

Season IV Trailer is OUT

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

OH YEAH!

THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!

TEARS OF JOY (okay, perhaps that is a wee bit of an exaggeration on my part...or is it?)

Let the speculation begin! It'll be interesting to see how closely they follow the latter half of the book.

I could see clips of Jon, Arya, Sansa, the Hound, Margaery and Joffrey at their wedding. Tywin and Jaime with a new sword, Jaime getting fitted for a new hand, Tyrion in a bit of a pickle, Tyrion talking to Oberyn Martell (who, by the way, looks like a total badass), the Wildlings, Yara, Brandon and Hodor near a Weirwood tree, etc etc.

April 6 is officially 82 days away!

Did I mention that Arya looks awesome and one has to wonder, is that Needle in her hands??!! Hope so!

Margaery and Olenna

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Olenna (aka the Queen of Thorns) and Margaery rock. Simply put.

Remember, Westeros is not an easy society to live in, especially if you're a woman. Oh, sure it helps if you have a pretty face, money and a powerful family.

Even those things may not be enough to save you from the constant threat of violence, assault and deceit.

Although, I must say, I quite enjoy every scene that has one or both of those ladies. The elder, wise in the ways of the world, court intrigue and politics is teaching and clearing the path for one who is younger, sexier and far more shrewd. Although Margaery has so far been careful the way she chooses her words and actions.

Love how she is getting under Cersei's skin.

Oh yes, and how daddy Tywin puts Cersei in her place. BOOM!

Can we please have a scene with Tywin and Olenna? Would love to overhear a conversation between those two...

14...

Two weeks left.

I have been watching all of the extras from the Season II Blu-ray DVDs. I must say, they are quite entertaining and educational. When you listen to all the characters speak of their respective Houses, past events and transgressions and point of view details, you are left to decide for yourself who is telling the truth, who is stretching it and who is outright lying.

It's a nice way to learn about the history and lore of Westeros.

My favourite extras are the House Lannister, House Stark and House Tyrell shorts.

14 days. Can't wait!

Musical Selections

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

So, I was on a brief road trip with my husband to Niagara County, Ontario and we were listening to the Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind stations on my Sirius XM radio when a wave of inspiration hit me: there are so many amazing songs out there, that perhaps I could blog about many of them, but that they should be classified according to their appropriate House.

There are, of course, many songs in different musical genres, so this provides me with an outstanding variety of songs to choose from.

Are there any songs out there, that you, my blog visitors, can think of for any of the Houses in Westeros? Feel free to comment and let me know what you think.

I'm going to go through all of my MP3 files and Cd's to see what songs would be appropriate.

Now that I think about it, Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" was such an appropriate choice for one of the Season II trailers....that I often wonder what they'll do for the Season III trailers that will be out for spring 2013?

"Q" is for Queen!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Just because you are a Queen doesn't necessarily give you absolute power.

Just look at Cersei Lannister. She yearns to sit on the Iron Throne and rule over Westeros with a vicious grip. Not bloody likely. Not while she is Queen Regent. Which, for all of her scheming and calculations, it more or less backfired in her face. Placing Joffrey on the thrones was like unleashing a swarm of angry bees after someone has knocked over their hive. Not pleasant for anyone involved.

Not that she fared any better as Robert Baratheon's Queen. She did her duty: she married him, united two powerful Houses in the Seven Kingdoms and produced three children (whom we all know are not legitimate children borne of that union, but products of incest).

Sansa Stark was betrothed to Prince Joffrey Baratheon in Season I. She would've been his Queen, once the late King passed on and perhaps things may have had a nicer turn out, had Eddard Stark not been accused of treason and Joffrey didn't turn out to be the vile sociopath that he really was. In Season II, Sansa should thank her lucky stars that she did not wed Joffrey. Her physical and mental abuse at his hands (or his henchmen's hands) was a real nice preview of what a 'blissful' married life they would've had together. (note my sarcasm)

Next candidate for Queen: there are two potential women who vie for the title and all it's privileges: Lady Talisa Migear and Lady Margaery Tyrell. (in the book we know that Robb Stark ends up marrying a character named Jeyne Westerling, from an impoverished House)

Lady Talisa is a field nurse, tending to wounds, cuts, amputations and dead bodies, no matter what House they serve. Lady Margaery has been trained by birth in the finer arts of women's studies, castellan management and court politics and etiquette by her grandmother, Lady Olenna Redwyne. Who is more worthy of the title? Who will be able to play the game better, outwit and outlast people longer and live to see another year in the Seven Kingdoms?

The tides have now turned and people's fortunes rise and fall just like the sun and the moon in the Seven Kingdoms. By the end of Season II, we see that Lady Margaery Tyrell has now been betrothed to King Joffrey Baratheon. Where Sansa cowered and put on a mask to conceal her true feelings, Margaery looks like she's able to use her looks and her sexuality to manipulate Joffrey. She doesn't look like she's afraid of Cersei, either. And you wonder why I like Margaery Tyrell.

Season III is going to place the women of Westeros on a whole different playing field!

"M" is for Margaery Tyrell

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Here is one of my favourite female characters: Margaery Tyrell. The lovely Natalie Dormer portrays her in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Margaery is the only daughter from House Tyrell. She has three older brothers - Willas, Lord Garlan and Ser Loras. As a female, she is destined to marry into a great house and unite two families, securing wealth, political ties and forging new alliances.

In A Clash of Kings, we see that Margaery Tyrell has married Renly Baratheon and by rights, has become his Queen. We all know that Loras and Renly are having a secret relationship. This does not bother Margaery, as she has married her King, knowing what she was getting into and what was expected of her in this political arrangement.

For a female in Westeros, she is very well educated and pretty shrewd. I like to think that she gets that blunt and shrewd streak from her grandmother, Lady Olenna Redwyne. Margaery possesses looks and wit and understands the necessity of deception, especially to those in the court. What would've been a strategic marriage soon comes undone, as Renly is murdered by his brother and the red priestess from Asshai.

Margaery understands that being in the right position at the right time means that unrivalled power could be in her grasp. We see her pleading her case to King Joffrey, that she has become enamored of him and all his feats. Just watching Natalie Dormer state her intentions to Joffrey with that seductive twinkle in her eye and her regal wardrobe, well Joffrey pretty much likes what he sees and discards Sansa Stark in favour of Lady Margaery Tyrell.

Season III looks pretty exciting and I cannot wait to see how Margaery's character begins to show some real teeth and some edge. Margaery is savvy enough to know that she wants to be aligned with the most powerful man in Westeros, because it means prestige for her family and a secure position for her in court and for any future heirs. I don't think she will buckle under Joffrey the way Sansa did.

Perhaps she will use her sultry wiles on Joffrey to get what she wants. I say whatever she needs to do to get ahead, do it. The men of Westeros never flinch at having to wage weapons, threats and seize opportunities, when presented.

So if a woman chooses to make love instead of war to obtain power, it doesn't make her weaker. Pen is mightier than the sword. No man alive can withstand the alluring, tantalizing siren call from a woman. Especially Natalie Dormer's Margaery Tyrell. Watch her in the Tudors. Then you'll know exactly what I mean.
