Next Theme Song

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

The second season of Game of Thrones had an incredible song called "Seven Devils" by Florence and the Machine.

Totally appropriate for what the season was showcasing.

I thought, will the folks at HBO pick another amazing song for the season three official trailer? Ding! Ding! They picked a song called "Bones" by the group MS MR. Extremely in tune with all the dark themes of season three.

I wonder...what song will be chosen for the fourth season's official trailer? March...8 months away.  A lot of wondering and waiting for us fans in the realm!

Musical Chairs in Westeros

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

As promised....I am coming up with some musical selections for some of the Houses in Westeros.

Not only will I do my best to pick a fitting piece of music per House, I'm also going to try and select the most appropriate piece of music for some of our favourite Game of Thrones characters, too!

Take into consideration that this is going to be a pretty big endeavour. I just got the 'green light' from Jacob at HBO Watch, so the finished product(s) will be published to the HBO Watch website.

So far, I have several songs from Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Doors, The Cult, Madonna, Pink, Pink Floyd and LMFAO, to name a few!

You'll have to log on to http://hbowatch.com if you want to read the polished pieces of writing. I hope to do this particular piece justice. If there are any suggestions in terms of songs, please readers, feel free to leave me some commentary!

Time to cut a rug!

Musical Selections

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

So, I was on a brief road trip with my husband to Niagara County, Ontario and we were listening to the Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind stations on my Sirius XM radio when a wave of inspiration hit me: there are so many amazing songs out there, that perhaps I could blog about many of them, but that they should be classified according to their appropriate House.

There are, of course, many songs in different musical genres, so this provides me with an outstanding variety of songs to choose from.

Are there any songs out there, that you, my blog visitors, can think of for any of the Houses in Westeros? Feel free to comment and let me know what you think.

I'm going to go through all of my MP3 files and Cd's to see what songs would be appropriate.

Now that I think about it, Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" was such an appropriate choice for one of the Season II trailers....that I often wonder what they'll do for the Season III trailers that will be out for spring 2013?

"G" is for George R R Martin!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: ,

Two topics for the letter "G" - George R. R. Martin, who we all know as the big guy who wrote this fantastic series of books! Thank you George, for giving us fans hours of endless reading pleasure. I am just about to start the fifth book, "A Dance with Dragons." :)

Also, "G" can stand for Game of Thrones soundtrack. What kind of music would you recommend for a potential "Game of Thrones" soundtrack? I love Ramin Djawadi's score. His music is absolutely key to creating the mood and delivering heavy on the emotion.

However, are there any songs out there that would be applicable to the series? The songs that come to mind so far are the following:

"Seven Devils" by Florence and the Machine;
"Immigrant Song" and "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin;
"Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel;
"Of Wolf and Man" by Metallica;
"A Real Human Being" by College;
"Run for the Hills" by Iron Maiden;
"Short People" by Randy Newman;
"Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon;
"Highway to Hell" and "Have a Drink On Me" by AC/DC.

Are there any other musical selections you can think of? Feel free to comment on my blog! Cheers

A Feast for Crows

Officially started reading "A Feast for Crows." This is - for those of you who don't know - the fourth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, written by George R. R. Martin. So far, it was a little slow for me, I think because I'm still watching the second season and don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Then again, I really do enjoy reading about new characters and seeing how the story line is developing. I'll think I'll just stay the course.

"Seven Devils"

For everyone who started watching all of the Game of Thrones trailers, I have to say that the best one they came out with was the one titled, "Seven Devils." Why? Because the trailer captures the corruption, the desolation of some of the locations, the isolation some of the characters feel, the peril some of them face firsthand and the sheer determination of the characters. The music in the trailer is from a group called Florence and the Machine. The good folks at HBO could not have picked a more perfect piece of music to reflect the mood for the second season. Thanks to the trailer, Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" track on YouTube has picked up a lot more visitors! You go, Flo!
