Stark Sisters

Author: Anonymous / Labels: ,

The Stark sisters are BACK!

Both of them have been through some pretty traumatizing situations.

They saw their father beheaded. They found out that their mother had been killed at the Red Wedding.

Sansa became a political hostage of sorts; to be bought and sold to the highest bidder. Of course, with her ancient House name and her beauty, the Lannisters were aiming to use that for themselves. Until she was spirited away by Petyr Balesh, who sold her to the Boltons. And we all know the horror Sansa had experienced, being married to Ramsay Bolton. She had to cope somehow and in that type of situation, it's no wonder that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can grab a hold of a person. Luckily for her, she was able to escape with Theon and head north to the Wall.

Arya, on the other hand, has used her survival skills to get into the House of Black and White. You could say that she learned from the best, as Jaqen was a strict teacher. Eventually, she had to outsmart, outwit and outdo the Waif. And we ALL cheered when Arya when the Waif got her just desserts!

The Stark sisters have been through so much and have had to do things that young noblewomen normally wouldn't have to do but hopefully, they will reunite at Winterfell.

After all, Jon and Sansa have now reunited and are making preparations to take down the Boltons.

HOUSE STARK FOREVER!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

ANOTHER AMAZING EPISODE.

Now this is more like it! Yes, I was disappointed with the season premiere, but I have to say that the second and third episodes have really picked up the pace.

Which is great because there is so much turmoil going on in King's Landing at the moment, that I really can't wait to see the outcome.

Anyone else feel a smug sense of satisfaction when Lady Olenna throws some MAD SHADE towards Cersei? Oh MY GOD. They don't call her the "Queen of Thorns" for nothing!! Uncle Kevan Lannister can barely conceal his contempt for his niece. Well, I kind of don't blame him.

Margaery and Loras are still in a pickle. Theon is slowly shedding his Reek persona and starting to remember what it was like to be Theon Greyjoy, before he made so many mistakes. I think going through all that trauma has really made him see the light; let's hope that Theon will remember to be true to himself and remember that his adopted sister Sansa is alive and well. And Dany is just lingering around in Vaes Dothrak, with the other widowed Khaleesi's. We know she is not suited to that life, but she is just biding her time.

As for Arya Stark, or as she is now known as, No One, I REALLY want to see her mad ninja Rocky Balboa Jedi assassin skills come in handy. Like, as in NOW. I want her to beat the Waif so bad that the Waif will NEVER lay a hand on her again.

And can we just say YOUNG NED, tho?! Holy ^%$##@!!!!! These flashbacks are frickin' awesome. D & D should have incorporated them starting in season 3. Let's be honest, they have more than enough material that they could've started years ago. Oh well. I suppose as a massive fan, I will just have to be content with what is presented. And how about that Ser Arthur Dayne? And that fight sequence? And Howland Reed.....that dude is LOYAL.

And OF COURSE.......Ser Davos and Melisandre find Jon has risen from the DEAD. BOOM MF's!

February Fuzzies

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

We're a month closer. That's what I'm talking about! Double digits in our countdown. And I'm all for that. I was a bit busy with work, hence why my blogging has been light as of that past few months.

Lots of speculation and HBO released a trailer.....very dark, very ominous and it's located in the House of Black and White. What does this mean? Why do we hear the dead speaking? Is this to provoke us? To bring back those suppressed feelings of rage and sorrow at seeing some of the best people die?!

Except Joffrey. I hated him and was thrilled to see him choke to death.

We're still patiently waiting for a trailer TRAILER, if you know what I mean. It's simply not ENOUGH for us to get a snippet of faces on the wall inside the House of Black and White.

Then again, fans have been freaking out over this. Why, you ask?! Well, duh. When a man or woman is given the "Gift" from someone inside the House of Black and White, then that means they're dead and gone.

Or are they........??

Teaser Trailers

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Could it be possible that additional flashbacks are taking place in Season 6?!

Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning???

Bran having visions - his eyes going white and flashbacks to his siblings and their respective fates?!

Jon!!! Sansa!! Arya!!! WTF is happening to all the beloved Starks?

I hate you Ramsay!! And as for Cersei, I pray to the old Gods and the new that she gets what's coming to her!!! BIG TIME!!!

I heard a little birdie say that Margaery is released by the Faith Militant....has she gone over to their side or is it a ruse to survive?!

Can't wait to see Tyrion, Jaqen, Arya, Bran, Jon and all the awesome flashbacks in April!

They don't call it a teaser trailer for nothing!

Mother's Mercy

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Another season has ended.

Many fans have felt that the Dorne plot was the weakest link. I agree. Nothing but voyeurism at its' best. No characters to really draw me in, with the exception of Prince Doran, Aero Hotah and Ellaria Sand. The Sand Snakes were a complete bore. But whatever. And anyone who thought Ellaria had submitted her will to Prince Doran, well, come on already! You KNOW she was acting all the way. Revenge is something that does not go unfulfilled, especially with the paramour of the late Oberyn Martell.

The prophecy still stands true: Marcella paid the ultimate price for that, unfortunately. It's always the innocent that pay in blood for the games that other people play. Jaime now knows what it feels like to have a child die in his arms.

Happy to see Tyrion put at the helm of a large and ancient city - Meereen. And happy to see Varys and Tyrion teamed up again. "I did miss you."  "I know." (doesn't that sound like a #StarWars throwback to Leia and Han?)

Daario and Jorah are off to find Dany, who's sailed halfway across Westeros on Drogon's back. Poor dragon - he's wounded and tired. And she's an idiot. There, I said it. I'm tried of her storyline. It only got interesting for me once Tyrion came into the picture. Kind of wondering, how the grayscale is going to affect Jorah in the long run. And as for Dany dropping her ring, in a sea of tall grass, before the Dothraki horde comes charging about, I felt that was a bit lame. Of all places, you're going to drop your ring in there?!

Fave part: Arya finally got her hit list kill and Ser Meryn Trant deserved all the agony that he was put through. A violent man, prone to beating under age girls and a pedophile to boot, I felt elated to see Arya BAMF Stark return with a vengeance. The only problem is....well, she kinds took a face from the House of Black and White and sort of kinda didn't say anything to Jaqen about it. Whoops. Well, lovely girl, only death can pay for life. Your eyesight is now forfeit - but don't lose hope fans. Something bigger is in store for our awesome Stark Jedi padewan apprentice.

Stannis wasn't having a good day, good month or a good year for that matter. His wife commits suicide; half his men deserted him and he ends up getting killed by none other than Brienne of Tarth. I'm glad that Ser Davos was at Castle Black but boy is he going to be p***ed off once he finds out the REAL truth about poor Princess Shireen. How fitting that Melisandre rides to Castle Black and says nothing of how it all went down. And no witnesses to challenge her, either.

Reek/Theon finally snaps out of his pathetic slump and pushes that sociopath little cur, Myranda, off the battlements. SPLAT! Music to my ears. Sansa and Theon hold each other's hands and make a leap of faith off the steep castle walls. Not to worry, my friends. It's *snowing* in the north and Winterfell has plenty of snow around the castle, the portcullis and the outer grounds. Lots of fluffy, white snow.

Glad that Sam, Gilly and baby Sam got the hell out of Dodge! As for Jon Snow, well, hard to truly say if he met his demise or not. According to some pictures I saw, he's lying there, blood seeping out of his body. The next frame is his eyes - they got completely white - as in warging. I hope and pray something happens because let's face it, if Melisandre is there (how convenient that she is) and she has the ability to resurrect someone back from the dead, well, she'd better GET ON THAT. FAST!

My second fave part was watching Cersei go through the ultimate humiliation - being forced to walk naked through the streets of King's Landing, while the people watch on the sidelines, screaming and throwing rotten food and excrement at her. I felt absolutely ZERO pity for her.

My beef with this finale is that we did not see Margaery or Loras; nor did we see Lady Olenna or Littlefinger. Guess we'll just have to wait until March 2016.

And now, the long watch begins...

Jaqen's BACK!!!!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

YES!

Women all over the realm are rejoicing that our favourite Faceless man is BACK!

What's up with Sansa?! Is she playing at being still so clingy and naive or is she playing up to Littlefinger? Hopefully she is turning to the dark side and learning to use her feminine wiles to hide a more devious side.

Arya + Jaqen = AWESOMENESS.

Jon and Sam = the Men in Black.

Dany......I just don't know what to say about you anymore. You're lost, confused and not doing a very good job at ruling people that you quite frankly don't know and don't understand. This is what happens when you are ignorant and try to carry out something noble. Without doing your background work and learning about the people you mean to rule, it blows up right in your face. Hell, your dragons don't want anything to do with you.

I am totally loving the Tyrion and Varys roadshow.

Bronn!!!!!!

Dear Cersei: KARMA.

Am I forgetting anything else?!

SOOOO looking forward to Margaery and Tommen getting married. And hopefully seeing more of sassy Grandmother Olenna. BOOM

Merry Christmas GoT Fans

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Wishing all the fans in the realm a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As of December 25, there will be 108 days to go!!!

And 108 days is way better than 208! And by the time January 2 rolls around, we will officially be into a double digit countdown (99 days to go).

Have you checked out HBO's Year Ender trailer?

You see Cersei walking with some of the Kingsguard; Jon back at Castle Black; Arya standing on a the shore (which I presume she has safely landed in Braavos) and Tyrion looking pretty grim and disguised with longer hair and a full on beard. It's only 8 seconds long but it is better than nothing!

:)

The Sight

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Do you see what I see?

HBO just released another tiny teaser trailer about the sight....

Who do you see in this trailer? I've watched it a few times and this is what I can make out in the screen shot:

A blurry Sansa, staring at someone or something; Tyrion in the dark (from last season); a Weirwood tree and a Three Eyed Raven; the throne room looking desolate and in ruins; a mystery guy in what looks like a small boat, paddling away on a river; a hand touching the surface of a river; a woman behind what looks to be a screen of some sort (Cersei?) and finally a book being slammed shut. That books looks like the very large tome that Jaime Lannister was skimming through last season.

16 seconds is not long enough!

More Funko Action Figures

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Well, I had nothing on my credit card.

Then, I saw the ads for the newest action figures from Funko. Some of them look pretty decent. And well, guess what I'm going to be ordering now.

I'm going to try really hard not to get carried away.

Maybe I'll only buy the Arya Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Ygritte, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Eddard Stark ones.

I've purchased almost all of the Funko dolls and portraits from Society 6. I've bought all the DVD Blue Ray sets of each season, plus all the graphic novels and have 2 sets of the books. I've purchased almost every single accompanying book on the subject that I am running out of room in my house.

I'm going to need a much bigger bookcase.

I'm still going to purchase some of the ceramic steins because they are great for drinking coffee and tea in.

I could be spending money on other things, such as pricey brand name clothing or purses or perfumes. But I don't. I prefer to spend it on Game of Thrones stuff.

Now, if only I could convince someone to come with me to next year's SDCC....

Society 6

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

Very stoked! I just ordered my first three prints from a website called Society 6.

They have all kinds of neat items for sci-fi geeks and nerds. Naturally, I had to order three of the character prints, framed, from this site.

Arya Stark's caption is "Cat of the Canals."

Margaery Tyrell's caption is "The Little Rose."

Olenna Redwyne's caption is "The Queen of Thorns." Very fitting for the dame, indeed!

Next three choices: Ellaria Sand, Osha the Wildling and Brienne of Tarth. :)

The Children

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Well. I just don't know what to say. As a book reader, there were many things that were left out of the finale and because of that, I was frustrated and disappointed.

I don't know? Maybe it's me? I'm a book purist at heart? I actually went with some people to watch it in a movie theatre. It was jam packed, too. However, next year, if HBO decides to have the season finale in a theatre, I am going to forego it.

I am really hoping that Dan and David include a few MAJOR THINGS in the next season because the more I think about it...the more disappointed I am. Loose ends weren't tied. Certain things that took place in the finale DID NOT take place in the books...which leaves fans bewildered.

I am hoping that The Winds of Winter will come out sometime next year as a consolation.

Another Season Over...

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

I just don't know what to say.

I knew this day was coming. Time has a funny way of marching to a quicker pace when you are truly enjoying something, and at other times, goes at a snail's pace when you are bored stiff.

Tomorrow night is the season finale of Game of Thrones. I have purchased tickets to go see it at a movie theatre. I plan on going early, because the hysteria and mass fandom that will occur, I want to be in the front of the line, rather than the back of it.

I feel as though this season went by so fast - so many plot changes and a lot of things deviated from the books. Friends and colleagues have asked me - "What do you think is going to happen next?" I wish I could answer them, but the truth is that I can't.

I have read all the books but because a lot of material has been cut from the series, it's hard to tell where the focus will be for the season finale.

The title is called "The Children." I have a couple of good ideas as to what will take place. I have 3 big ideas in my head but I will not place any spoilers on my blog.

Here's to the Imp. Long may he live.

Here's to the young wolf pup, Arya. May she grow to be a tremendous assassin and avenge House Stark.

Here's to the Kingslayer. May he stray far away from the evil clutches of his depraved sister.

Here's the to flower of Highgarden. May Margaery best Cersei, personally and politically.

And who knows: maybe the White Walkers are completely misunderstood. Maybe they are meant to clean up the scourge and filth in the Seven Kingdoms.

Still miss Oberyn Martell, tho.

Don't Let the Moon Door Hit You on the Way Down!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

OH SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of goodies in this episode.

First off, I am getting annoyed with the Daenerys Targaryen story line. Although, I did not mind seeing a little more of Daario Naharris. Ladies, do you agree?!

The Hound and Arya: nice to see some personal interaction. It makes the Hound a more empathic character. Yes, he's a cold blooded killer but don't forget: look at who is father and brother were. He was brought up in a household that praised brutality. His own brother disfigured and scarred him for life. His own father defended the Mountain for burning him. How would you feel if you were on the run, a price on your head, with hatred in your heart for anything related to the Lannisters or your psychotic brother?!

And Arya: learning to kill without a shred of remorse. A girl needs to do what has to be done in order to survive the harsh brutality of Westeros.

And can I just say how much I ADORED the scene between Oberyn and Tyrion? Talk about raw, unbridled emotion. Tyrion is at his lowest point. He knows that everyone has lost faith and have turned their backs on him. He knows his head could potentially be severed from his neck. And during the darkest hour of the night, a visitor comes calling. Oberyn Martell: from the beginning he saw through Cersei's lies and saw her cruel treatment of Tyrion, right back to when they were children.

And he wants vengeance against those who killed his sister, Elia Martell, and his late niece and nephew.

"I will be your champion."

There had better be Emmy nominations for both Peter Dinklage and Pedro Pascal!

And Sansa and that kiss.....ewww.....with Littlefinger! And of course, the jealous aunt Lysa. Well, she should have thought it through because having Littlefinger as your husband doesn't necessarily mean that you are 100% safe from any, 'accidents.'

Yeah. A little late for that one!

Game of Thrones: A Foreshadowing

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

A preview designed to give fans of the realm a little taste of what is coming in April did not disappoint! Love the sets, the costumes and the behind the scenes questions and answers with the actors and actresses.

We are now officially under the 2 month mark. Which is a good thing, because the winter has been long. Too much frigid arctic air masses and not enough sunshine.

So stoked for April 6! :)

Sansa Courts Controversy

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Sansa Stark and the word controversy really don't belong in the same sentence.

The reason why I write this blog post is because I posted a link in which George RR Martin has stated that in his future book, 'The Winds of Winter,' apparently there is going to be a really shocking chapter. As in awful. Controversial. And it has to do with Sansa Stark.

Here is my take on what the controversy could be:

Theory #1 - Sansa, using courtesy as her armor, is so scared and fearful for her life that she leans on and completely trusts Petyr Baelish and ends up marrying him and having a child. Of course, she is known as 'Alayne Stone' - his supposed illegitimate daughter but Petyr being the crafty scumbag that he is - will find a way to say something to the effect of, "Well, I only had her interests at heart, because there could have been attempts made on her life or someone may have wished to kidnap a wealthy heiress."

I don't like this theory, but it is controversial in the sense that Sansa is still a maiden and she will end up marrying a man, who though much back stabbing and scheming, betrayed her family and tore them apart.

Theory #2 - Sansa will become a ruthless and cruel woman, exactly like Cersei Lannister. She will become vindictive and hateful, not caring who she hurts and what her actions do, down the line to other people. She will become so hateful that the only thing that'll keep her going is the thought of going back to Winterfell. If she's still with Petyr Baelish, she could turn out to become a mastermind just like him: a liar, ruthless and cunning, except that nobody would think she was capable, because she is this sweet, proper young lady.

For Sansa to become ruthless and strike out at people would mean that she would have to develop a backbone and very thick skin. Not sure I am liking this theory, either.

Theory #3 - Sansa will play the sweet, head in the clouds young lady that she was brought up to be. She will fool everyone and play her party so well that nobody would even think that she had a seed of hatred in her heart. Until the time was right and she reveals who she is and ends up murdering Petyr Baelish, gaining the loyalty of the people of the Vale of Arryn and heads back to the ruins of Winterfell to try and live out the rest of her life, in peace, but heavily guarded. She will trust no one and go to great lengths to make sure that Winterfell is rebuilt and that the northern banner men protect her, for the rest of her life. She will never marry, after what she has gone through.

Well, this theory would be ideal, if Sansa could find the audacity to go through with getting rid of Petyr Baelish. Besides, nobody would miss him!

Theory #4 - Almost like #3 except Petyr finds out what she does and before she has a chance to get rid of him permanently, he assaults her. She manages to fight him off, but not before some serious damage is done. She escapes with her life and turns to the Maester and Septa of the Eyrie to help her recover. She decides to go back to Winterfell after being traumatized. On her travels north, Arya senses that Sansa was going through something terrible and warged into Nymeria to confirm this. Arya, almost completely initiated into the Faceless Men, decides it's time to travel back to help save her sister. They run into each other and head back to Winterfell together, trying to rebuild a semblance of a life. When Sansa tells Arya what happens, Arya makes it a point to go back and exact her revenge on Petyr Baelish. She does so with careful consideration. She stalks his brothels and plants poison in a few of them. Many of the prostitutes die. Many of the clients die mysterious deaths, too. It's all made to make sure that Petyr's brothels begin to suffer and business starts to decline sharply. To make matters better, Arya finds out where she can locate a Brother from the Iron Bank of Braavos and tell him that Petyr Baelish is skimming his accounts and not paying any and all interest owed to the Iron Bank. To further complicate matters, Arya somehow, someway makes it back to the Vale and speaks with the remaining banner men of Jon Arryn and the late Lysa Tully Arryn and tells them everything that Little finger had done: that he murdered Lysa, framed the singer and murdered Robyn Arryn, all so he could gain titles, lands and a greater link in an attempt to lay claim to Winterfell. Then, she tells the banner men of the Vale of Arryn the heinous crime of what Littlefinger did - that he raped her sister. For this, the crime is death. Outraged, the banner men swear allegiance to the young wolf pup of Winterfell.

With a considerable amount of man power behind her, Arya now travels to Riverrun, and meets up with her great Uncle, Brendyn Tully. He joins forces with her and rallies men to her cause. Dispatches to the Brotherhood with Banners come calling and join her. The northern banner men of Winterfell leave an armed garrison behind to safely protect Sansa and the rebuilt castle and community of Winterfell. Arya marches south. She finds the scum, Petyr, at King's Landing, as he was making an attempt to hide out and eventually get into the good graces of Queen Margaery. Due to the might and strength of her army, and the fact that Margaery is now Queen, they arrest Petyr on charges of murder, unlawful seduction, rape, embezzlement, fraud and fraudulent funds. Justice is swift - Arya decides that he will die, but a quick death is not suitable for him. Arya personally delivers the sentence and sees to it that he suffers. He is hung, drawn and quartered and his head is eventually placed on a spike at King's Landing, for all to see.

Queen Margaery is very pleased with Arya Stark and offers her a place at court. Arya respectfully declines but suggests a few loyal, northern banner men stay at court to guarantee safety and security. Queen Margaery and King Tommen write a peace treaty with Houses Stark, Arryn and Tully and they develop a lasting friendship. Queen Margaery asks Arya  about Sansa and inquires after her health. In time, Sansa recovers from her traumatic ordeal and the Queen goes to visit her. They become close and a future betrothal between Ser Wilas Tyrell is successfully proposed. Sansa moves to Highgarden and marries Ser Wilas, but remains quite close to her little sister.

As for Arya, well, a strange howling is heard now and then in the distance. It is when the full moon rises high above the towers of Winterfell, that Nymeria finally sees Arya. And the two kindred spirits are reunited. Nymeria, it seems, has brought a guest with her.

Aegon looks upon the young wolf pup to see how lovely she has grown and falls in love with her on the spot. Through a lot of bitterness and heartache, the Stark girls are finally given the happy endings they deserve.

Theory #4 - I am all in favor! This would be controversial, due to the awful event that Sansa has to go through. However, what Littlefinger reaps, he finally ends up paying for.(okay, yes, I made this whole theory up but that is what dedicated fans do these days)

Season IV Trailer is OUT

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

OH YEAH!

THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!

TEARS OF JOY (okay, perhaps that is a wee bit of an exaggeration on my part...or is it?)

Let the speculation begin! It'll be interesting to see how closely they follow the latter half of the book.

I could see clips of Jon, Arya, Sansa, the Hound, Margaery and Joffrey at their wedding. Tywin and Jaime with a new sword, Jaime getting fitted for a new hand, Tyrion in a bit of a pickle, Tyrion talking to Oberyn Martell (who, by the way, looks like a total badass), the Wildlings, Yara, Brandon and Hodor near a Weirwood tree, etc etc.

April 6 is officially 82 days away!

Did I mention that Arya looks awesome and one has to wonder, is that Needle in her hands??!! Hope so!

Points to Consider

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

I find it difficult to turn my brain off of Game of Thrones.

Just ask my husband, he hears it all the time.

At any rate, I have a few theories that might make sense, regarding Arya, Tyrion, Dany and Sansa.

First: the whole thing about the three headed dragon. I think it could be that Arya, Tyrion and Dany are destined to join forces. That would actually be pretty cool, considering that all three of those characters have been through the ringer and then some.

Of course, it would also be super cool if Arya found someone to stand with. As in a romantic interest. Not one that would match her battle skills, her wit and her stubbornness. This is where some minor spoilers are going to take place, so you've been warned. Aegon would be her match, he's a few years older than her, has had to struggle and fight and use his wits to survive the harsh world of Westeros. After all, there is that prophesy that Cersei is going to be taken down by someone younger and more beautiful than her.

While I would love to see it be Margaery, I wonder if it could be Sansa or Arya? After all, both Stark girls have suffered under Cersei's political and personal scheming. It would only make sense that Cersei suffers so bad to the point where she loses everything. And at the hands of a Stark daughter.

Of course, it would also be awesome if Sansa were to somehow, someway, get rid of Littlefinger and assume control of the Vale. I kind of want her and Tyrion back together. That would get under Cersei's skin so badly.....and for Tyrion, he gets a wife of noble blood and also he can claim Winterfell through Sansa. He could also bring some political savvy to the realm. If Arya and Sansa were to be reunited, it would be bittersweet. But at least the two girls would have each other, which is one way of looking at it.

I also would love to see Margaery and Sansa take down Cersei with any means at their disposal.

I think a lot of fans would love to see that!

Arya Stark: Warrior Princess

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Yes, I used the word 'princess' and the word 'Arya' in the same sentence.

Make no mistake, I use it with the greatest respect, in the sense that Arya is a fierce little princess, capable of holding her own against the big boys, in fact, anyone who crosses her path. I don't mean princess in the way everyone thinks of - long gowns, sweeping hairstyles, jewels, fine needle point and an air of genteel breeding.

Hell, no! I mean a young girl who is suddenly thrust into the vicious Game of Thrones, who is able to read people's intentions, train with a sword, learn a few ancient and noble languages, defend her House's honour, stand up and fight for herself and take off in order to survive, study other people, what they say and what they try to hide, accept her growing power as a warg and ultimately, learn how to become one of the most skilled assassins in Westeros. THAT is the type of princess I'm talking about - armed with chain mail, daggers, Needle, shape shifting powers, be multilingual and above all - conquer her fears and take down her enemies.

Arya always knew that she was different from other girls her age. She knew she would never be like her older sister and somehow, that did not disappoint her. She knew it, felt it and accepted it. She was surprised and shocked to learn and understand from her father that she was just like her late aunt, Lyanna Stark. Shocking because Lyanna was considered to be a great beauty in the Seven Kingdoms and surprised because Lyanna had the same spirit and had a rebellious streak in her. It's as if the ghost of Lyanna has come back to guide her niece. And this is a notion that I want to believe in.

I adore Arya Stark - she wants to believe in justice and equality and yet is canny enough, at a young age, to know that Westeros is made up of very dangerous men and women who will lie, cheat, steal and kill to get what they want. We all know that power is an aphrodisiac. Arya doesn't seem to be tainted by it, say the way that Joffrey and Cersei are. No, she knows that anyone can be killed and that you have to be very careful and play the game well and make allegiances with the right sort of people in the Seven Kingdoms. Otherwise, you will find yourself swinging from a rope or have a sword go through your belly.

None of those options are what Arya has in mind for herself. No, not this young wolf pup. She has to go through some very frightening and challenging times in order to grow as a young woman and as an individual, who is trying to survive and learn the skills she needs to - because in time we know what she will use them for.

Vengeance.

And it is my feverent hope that Arya Stark not only survives many assassins and outlaws, but that with each passing day, she remembers that she is a survivor. That she is strong minded and tougher than most.

That she is a Stark.

That she is not a victim.

When the time comes to exact her revenge on the world, may the Seven Old Gods and the New have mercy on her enemies.

For I will not.

The North Remembers.

Arya and Sansa - Two Sides of the Same Coin?

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

I came across an article that was in defence of Sansa Stark.

Not sure if I like the tone of it but, well, that's for everyone to decide on their own.

However, I will say this: are Arya and Sansa two sides of the same coin? Yes, they have the same last name and are both daughters of the late Ned and Catelyn Stark.

But how different can two teenage daughters/sisters be?

I will write a blog post in defence of one and in reflection of the other. I think you all know that I am #TeamArya.
