JUNE!!!

Less than a month away!!

Trailers and leaks are dropping like crazy! Fans are going nuts! Can't wait!

HBO - Possibility of a Prequel to Game of Thrones?!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Okay. How freaking AMAZING would it be if Game of Thrones were to continue.....yes, I know. Fans are only getting eight seasons. I will be crying when that day sadly arrives (2018, wah wah wah).

However, I've read several articles that have given me....dare I say? A little trickle of hope? There's been some talk at HBO and apparently the producers and folks at HBO are open and interested, along with GRRM, in the possibility of doing a prequel story line.

You know, A Tale of Dunk and Egg? For those of you who don't know, Google it or order the graphic novels. It's an amazing collection of prehistory before all of the junk about Robert's Rebellion going down.

I would be pretty damned happy with seeing this come to fruition. Yes, it wouldn't be Game of Thrones, but it would be the history of certain events and it would give us a lot better insight to the way the Seven Kingdoms ran politically, economically and socially.

I'm okay with this!!

Jaime in Dorne?! Huh??

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

Okay, so according to all the websites that I subscribe to, many a leaked photo indicate that Jaime Lannister is in a different outfit.

As in, Dornish robes.

Yes, you read that correctly. What on earth is Jaime doing in Dorne? What for? Why is this change taking place in the HBO series?

I've read the first five books and there was never any mention of Jaime Lannister + Dorne.

I'm very confused and a tad annoyed by this. Sure, I'm annoyed...because if they are showing Jaime Lannister in Dornish clothing, than that means that plenty other plotlines are going to be messed up.

But hey! Let's leave out Lady Catelyn Stark's resurrection into Lady Stoneheart out of the upcoming season because they didn't feel it was worth including.

Whatevs.

Cersei's Controversial Scene

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

There's a controversial scene that will be coming up in the fifth season.

Book readers, you know what I'm talking about. It involves Cersei and a certain punishment that is dished out her way.

I can't say that I'm disappointed, either. I am looking forward to it. Why, you ask?

As if anyone needs a reason! Cersei Lannister has lied, cheated, stolen, conspired, carried out an incestuous relationship with her own brother and has abused her power for many years.

It's time this woman was brought down low.

Prepare for a catfight between her and Margaery Tyrell. I say bring it!

OH SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of goodies in this episode.

First off, I am getting annoyed with the Daenerys Targaryen story line. Although, I did not mind seeing a little more of Daario Naharris. Ladies, do you agree?!

The Hound and Arya: nice to see some personal interaction. It makes the Hound a more empathic character. Yes, he's a cold blooded killer but don't forget: look at who is father and brother were. He was brought up in a household that praised brutality. His own brother disfigured and scarred him for life. His own father defended the Mountain for burning him. How would you feel if you were on the run, a price on your head, with hatred in your heart for anything related to the Lannisters or your psychotic brother?!

And Arya: learning to kill without a shred of remorse. A girl needs to do what has to be done in order to survive the harsh brutality of Westeros.

And can I just say how much I ADORED the scene between Oberyn and Tyrion? Talk about raw, unbridled emotion. Tyrion is at his lowest point. He knows that everyone has lost faith and have turned their backs on him. He knows his head could potentially be severed from his neck. And during the darkest hour of the night, a visitor comes calling. Oberyn Martell: from the beginning he saw through Cersei's lies and saw her cruel treatment of Tyrion, right back to when they were children.

And he wants vengeance against those who killed his sister, Elia Martell, and his late niece and nephew.

"I will be your champion."

There had better be Emmy nominations for both Peter Dinklage and Pedro Pascal!

And Sansa and that kiss.....ewww.....with Littlefinger! And of course, the jealous aunt Lysa. Well, she should have thought it through because having Littlefinger as your husband doesn't necessarily mean that you are 100% safe from any, 'accidents.'

Yeah. A little late for that one!

Littlefinger & Lysa: A Match Made in...

Hell.

Those two are just so evil, and they totally deserve each other! Fans finally find out just exactly who murdered poor Jon Arryn.....his darling, devoted wife, Lysa Arryn. And how she basically started the lies and the machine that created hostilities between House Stark and Lannister.

Can we say 'green eyed monster?' Not for a second did I believe anything that came out of her mouth when she was speaking to Sansa, who will be going by Alayne. How convenient that Lysa and Petyr are together now, and we find out that long ago, they had been intimate with each other. Except that Lysa is a poor substitute for Catelyn and (ew) Sansa. And HOW creepy was it to watch Lysa flip out on Sansa?! Jealous, much? Controlling and insecure, hmm that sounds like the Lady of the Vale. Although, I have to say that I am finally starting to warm up to Sansa. She is learning the value of deception. If she can continue to lie and put on one heck of a performance, then perhaps she will start to develop a love of intrigue. And get good at it.

And how about Cersei, sucking up to Margaery, Tywin and....Oberyn (!). It doesn't take much to realize why....because she wants Tyrion dead and also because (gasp!) House Lannister NEEDS House Tyrell on their side. Something about the Iron Bank of Braavos. I wouldn't want to be in debt to them, that's for sure.

They sound pretty omninous.

Dany staying behind makes sense, as she needs to rule those she means to liberate and show that she can and will develop good leadership and diplomatic skills. You have to wonder how it is that the folks in King's Landing are made aware of her every move....hm, perhaps there is a spy in her midst?

Hopefully Tommen and Margaery get married REAL soon. As for Arya, loved the water dance sequence but totally disliked the Hound for smacking her. I have a feeling that the next batch of episodes are going to get really interesting....

The Purple Wedding

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Long live the King!

King Tommen, first of his name! In case you didn't already think of this, Tommen is next in line and the only living son left. The BIG difference between Joffrey and Tommen, is that Tommen has no evil bone or thought in his body. We all know how Joffrey was.

So many feelings associated with the epic Purple Wedding. Who killed Joffrey? What was the motive? Who will gain from it? And how well did everyone sleep after knowing that King Joffrey, the sick, sociopath and malevolent King was now dead?

So many things that went on this episode and you can read my episode review of The Lion and The Rose on the HBO Watch website.

A lot of speculation as to who killed Joffrey. Interesting to note that Joffrey went out of his way to deliberately insult so many people at his wedding feast, including his own uncle, his aunt through marriage, his brother in law, his own wife and others.

Wicked respect to Prince Oberyn Martell and his equally sensuous paramour, Ellaria Sand, who boldly put Tywin AND Cersei in the dirt with their pointed remarks. Well played, Oberyn.

The smug sense of satisfaction that I felt in knowing that we wouldn't have to put up with that depraved jerk ever again kept me grinning from ear to ear.

We still have Cersei and Ramsay Snow to put up with. Patience is a virtue. And Karma always comes back.

Always.

Game of Thrones: A Foreshadowing

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , ,

A preview designed to give fans of the realm a little taste of what is coming in April did not disappoint! Love the sets, the costumes and the behind the scenes questions and answers with the actors and actresses.

We are now officially under the 2 month mark. Which is a good thing, because the winter has been long. Too much frigid arctic air masses and not enough sunshine.

So stoked for April 6! :)

Season IV Trailer is OUT

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

OH YEAH!

THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!

TEARS OF JOY (okay, perhaps that is a wee bit of an exaggeration on my part...or is it?)

Let the speculation begin! It'll be interesting to see how closely they follow the latter half of the book.

I could see clips of Jon, Arya, Sansa, the Hound, Margaery and Joffrey at their wedding. Tywin and Jaime with a new sword, Jaime getting fitted for a new hand, Tyrion in a bit of a pickle, Tyrion talking to Oberyn Martell (who, by the way, looks like a total badass), the Wildlings, Yara, Brandon and Hodor near a Weirwood tree, etc etc.

April 6 is officially 82 days away!

Did I mention that Arya looks awesome and one has to wonder, is that Needle in her hands??!! Hope so!

#RoastJoffrey

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

Call this a fantastic promotional strategy....or a way for fans of the realm to take their frustrations out on King Joffrey Baratheon, through the use of social media!

A few days ago, HBO launched the first ever "Roast Joffrey" event - where fans could take to Twitter and say a few, ahem, 'nice' things about the spoiled, delusional and egotistical King. I know I put in a few Twitter roast posts about him!

With the thousands of fans giving their two cents' worth, I have a feeling that future 'roasts' may be launched and I can think of a few other Game of Thrones characters I'd love to see that for...

Cersei.

Theon.

Petyr Baelish.

Walder Frey.

Roose Bolton.

Ramsay Snow.

Not bad, eh?!

A Little Site Called Etsy...

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Well, just when I thought I had completely paid off my Visa, I heard about this site called "Etsy."

Truth be told, I saw an article about these gorgeous, hand made custom designed Game of Thrones hoodies and I wanted to order them.

Yikes! At $200 per hoodie, that means I have to rethink my strategy. I will not be purchasing the Baratheon or Targaryen hoodies. Yes, I know, it's still an expensive endeavour for me to follow through with but I will be purchasing the House Stark and House Lannister ones.

The seller is on Etsy under the name of "Rarity's Boutique." She sold out her first order. Perhaps this is a good thing. I'll have to wait 2 months to place my order. That will be after the holiday season, so my debts will be paid off!

Sweet!

"Tywinning"

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

I cannot take credit for this but felt compelled to put this in my humble little blog.

"Tywinning" - Portmanteau of "Tywin" and the word "winning." This is mostly used to refer to the character,  Tywin Lannister, Hand of the King from "Game of Thrones." Especially when he destroys his enemies, orders members of his family around, field dresses a moose and otherwise, acting LIKE A BOSS.

Tyrion, How do I Love Thee? Let me Count the Ways...

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , ,

If I thought I could get away with it, I would name my future son Tyrion.

My husband does not approve of the name. He says it is best to leave it where it belongs, on HBO and for GRRM's awesome hero, Tyrion Lannister.

I heard that the book, "The Wit & Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister" will be released to Britain in October, so you all know that I have already ordered two copies.

In the meantime, I found this article and thought it was just brilliant! A compilation of Tyrion Lannister quotes we can all enjoy.

And then, there's a bonus scene at the end of the article.

One I think we all love to watch over and over and over....

Distraught

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

I don't know how else to say this: but I am truly distraught.

Last night's episode just broke my spirit. I feel for House Stark, I really do. How much suffering can one House endure?!

I am NOT happy with House Frey or House Bolton at the moment and hope in time, that they find themselves in less than kind circumstances. As in fall on VERY hard times.

Ah, Arya. My heart just breaks for you. Ironically enough, your only source of comfort is the presence of the Hound.

Bran and Rickon: you must seperate to stay safe. It's going to be a hard journey.

Sansa, your husband will be bringing you bad news in next week's episode, I am sure.

I have to remember, this is Game of Thrones. Don't show weakness. Don't drop your guard.

You win or die. :(

Books versus HBO Adaptation

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

It goes without saying that you'll have people that are happy to watch the series without reading the books. Fine, no problem.

However, if you've read the books, then you have a pretty good idea what may transpire on screen. The past two episodes, I've actually found that this was not the case. I understand that changes have to be made and that you can never really 100% fully adapt the pages to the screen.

I know there were some mixed reactions to last week's episode. I agree on two points: the ending scene with Jon and Ygritte and the Wall should not have been last. It didn't leave a powerful image in my mind, What should have been left to the end, for shock value and for a rise in tension, was Petyr Baelish's "The Climb" speech.

Wow, talk about power hungry and evil.

Dare I say....that the past few episodes with Jaime Lannister have actually started to change my opinion of the King slayer?! As in, I'm having a change of heart? I'm happy to see that he has started to become more human, away from the malicious influence of his deranged sister? That he had to suffer pain beyond humiliation, in order to feel again and get his blood pumping....to fan the fires of living again for revenge?!

First season, I loathed him. Now, I find that I am liking the fact that he has become human, with thoughts and feelings that nobody was previously witness to. I like Brienne because she seems to bring out a more sensitive side to Jaime. Perhaps these two lost souls were meant to form a strong bond.

As for the impending Frey Tully nuptials....aw man....don't want to go there...!

Margaery and Olenna

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Olenna (aka the Queen of Thorns) and Margaery rock. Simply put.

Remember, Westeros is not an easy society to live in, especially if you're a woman. Oh, sure it helps if you have a pretty face, money and a powerful family.

Even those things may not be enough to save you from the constant threat of violence, assault and deceit.

Although, I must say, I quite enjoy every scene that has one or both of those ladies. The elder, wise in the ways of the world, court intrigue and politics is teaching and clearing the path for one who is younger, sexier and far more shrewd. Although Margaery has so far been careful the way she chooses her words and actions.

Love how she is getting under Cersei's skin.

Oh yes, and how daddy Tywin puts Cersei in her place. BOOM!

Can we please have a scene with Tywin and Olenna? Would love to overhear a conversation between those two...

14...

Two weeks left.

I have been watching all of the extras from the Season II Blu-ray DVDs. I must say, they are quite entertaining and educational. When you listen to all the characters speak of their respective Houses, past events and transgressions and point of view details, you are left to decide for yourself who is telling the truth, who is stretching it and who is outright lying.

It's a nice way to learn about the history and lore of Westeros.

My favourite extras are the House Lannister, House Stark and House Tyrell shorts.

14 days. Can't wait!

AWESOME.

COLOURFUL.

DETAILED.

This Game of Thrones Exhibit at the Design Exchange surpassed the one that I attended last year at the Bell TIFF Lightbox centre.

In total: 399 pictures were taken.

Submitted my review of the exhibit to the good folks at HBOWatch.

Will post some new pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Less than three weeks! Hip hip HOORAY!

Musical Selections

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

So, I was on a brief road trip with my husband to Niagara County, Ontario and we were listening to the Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind stations on my Sirius XM radio when a wave of inspiration hit me: there are so many amazing songs out there, that perhaps I could blog about many of them, but that they should be classified according to their appropriate House.

There are, of course, many songs in different musical genres, so this provides me with an outstanding variety of songs to choose from.

Are there any songs out there, that you, my blog visitors, can think of for any of the Houses in Westeros? Feel free to comment and let me know what you think.

I'm going to go through all of my MP3 files and Cd's to see what songs would be appropriate.

Now that I think about it, Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" was such an appropriate choice for one of the Season II trailers....that I often wonder what they'll do for the Season III trailers that will be out for spring 2013?

Game of Thrones Cake Flavours

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

Well, I asked my cake lady if she could make me 2 Game of Thrones themed cakes for the season premiere next year. Yeah, yeah. Laugh all you like, but she gets incredibly busy and I like to book her in advance. http://www.thevanillabean.ca

So, obviously I will have a House Stark and a House Lannister cake. I was thinking, they should definitely reflect the geographic areas of Westeros. What flavours? What colours?

Hubster says that the House Lannister cake has to be red and gold. Okay, I suppose that's a given. He also said that a nice combination of flavours would be lemon sponge cake with strawberry filling or raspberry filling. So that means one cake is going to be light and fruity. The lemon sponge cake, as he pointed out to me, would be very rich, just like the Lannisters of Casterly Rock. I told him to calm down and if anyone is going to come up with those awesome ideas, it was going to be me!

As for the House Stark cake, I am inclined to go with blue and white, reflecting on the northern climate of Winterfell. I was thinking about a dark chocolate cake with fudge filling. Hubster totally disagreed with that option (um....should I remind him who is paying for set cakes?!). He said I should go with a nice vanilla cake and blueberries/strawberries/blackberries for the filling. I don't know. I'm not too crazy about the idea of doing a fruit medley for the House Stark cake.

I like the idea of a chocolate and vanilla swirl with chocolate icing and maybe some blueberries in there somewhere, in order to include blue as a colour, to give it that wintry feel. Besides, seeing as how he made suggestions for House Lannister's cake, I feel it only fair that I get what I want and have a chocolate fudgey ooey gooey kind of cake to eat.

Oh wait. I have to share it with my guests. Winter is coming, indeed!!!
