More Game of Thrones Literature

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Just received the "Game of Thrones: Second Season Essays" by Pearson Moore and "Logic cuts Deeper then Fear" book by Henry Jacoby. I am a very happy camper.

In the midst of marking, sorting and inputting marks in for the various classes I teach, it was nice to get something delivered to me that wasn't a bill! I am looking forward to reading these two books in the next two months' time.

Because we all know (especially those on my Twitter feed and Facebook account) that I am looking forward to the Season III premiere of Game of Thrones. I, and about a million other fans!

Happy that I read on George's "Not a Blog" blog spot that he has completed another chapter in the next novel, "The Winds of Winter." Keep at it, George R. R.! We all look forward, with great anticipation, of the release date for this book!

Still wondering when I am going to read "A Dance With Dragons."

I finished Pearson Moore's "Game of Thrones Season One Essays" a while back and I ordered the next one. Patiently waiting for Amazon to deliver it to my door step.

Funko GoT Vinyl Figures!!!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

OH MA GAWD!!!!

I've let y'all know that I contribute to HBO Watch, a group of talented and dedicated fans/writers of all things HBO.

Just checked my Google+  discussion and saw that I hadn't been on it for a while. There were a lot of updates and exciting events. I was extremely elated to see that Jacob Klein, the founder of HBO Watch, has rewarded my many Game of Thrones character articles with one of those awesome Funko Game of Thrones figures.

Now.....it's a toss up to see which one I end up receiving. There's the Khal Drogo one, the White Walker one and the Tyrion Lannister one. There are two other HBO Watch writers being rewarded as well, both guys. Something tells me that I may end up with Khal Drogo, because I wrote about him in one of my articles. Then again, I also wrote about the White Walker at the end of Season II looking like Willie Nelson, just frozen. Or maybe I'll end up with Tyrion because I named him my sexiest man in Westeros.

Maybe I think too much.  Maybe.

LoTR vs GoT Characters

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

OH. MA GAWD!!

AWESOME article about who would win if we all asked the question...."In the two parallel books Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, who would win against whom?"

SO many possibilities to think of!

Aragorn versus Jaime.

Cersei versus Arwen.

Tyrion versus  Frodo.

Tywin versus Gandalf.

Jon versus Gimli.

Robb versus Legolas.

Arya versus Eowyn.

Daenyers versus the Witch King.

Eddard versus Boromir. (hee hee hee)

Theon versus Faramir.

Samwell Tarly versus Samwell Gamgee. (c'mon, you all knew I would put the two Sams together)

A White Walker versus Gollum.

Varys versus Galadriel.

Littlefinger versus Wormtongue.

Anyone else??

I NEED That Graphic Novel!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

YUP!!!  Less than 150 days to go, y'all.  Went to the local Chapters to purchase the second A Song of Ice and Fire graphic novel and THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT!!!

Whyyyyyyyy?!  I came home and my husband promptly told me to "Quit being so dramatic. You just got hired as a full time teacher, you're healthy and you'll be debt free soon enough. You'll get the book in a week or so."

Remind me not to whine in his presence ever again!

PS - I'm not letting him have any of my Game of Thrones cake, once the Season Premiere rolls around in March 2013! Hmph! Lol.

HBO Watch - Check It Out!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Ladies and Gentlemen of Westeros and Pentos: I'd like to just send a HUGE shout out to the good folks at HBO Watch.

This is a small website that grew out of love for the many high quality HBO series on television. There are several members and they all contribute to the website by means of HBO character profiles for their favourite series, editorials, updates or "this just in" news flashes. It's all entertaining to read and I HIGHLY recommend visitors to click on the HBO Watch link on the sidebar to the right.

I am both pleased and humbled that Jacob and crew have published six of my character profiles! Jacob also published one of my humorous articles about the most attractive men in Westeros (now ladies, remember, I'm entitled to my opinion, as you are yours!) and it garnered a lot of feedback on the HBOWatch website and on Facebook.

I knew that somehow, someday, my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Medieval History and Medieval & Fantasy English Literature would pay off!

Thank you Jacob, for taking a chance on this Canuck gal from north of Toronto, Ontario! I am stoked to know that there are many new characters that will be introduced for Season III's A Storm of Swords. This means more character pieces! Yay!

I love to write about the multi-faceted characters of Westeros. When it comes to Game of Thrones, I have plenty to say!

"Z" is for....Zest? Zeal?

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

Well, I made it through 25 successful Game of Thrones blogs posts. Except, for this particular letter, I truly am stumped.

I can only think of the words "zest" and "zeal" to describe the enthusiasm and passion that the fans have for George R R Martin's fantastic series, "A Song of Fire and Ice."

I am pleased and humbled that people are checking out my humble little Game of Thrones themed blog. I am noticing a particular trend from the countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Germany!

Feeling a ton of international love. I love to follow anything and everything that is related to Game of Thrones. Hence, my zest and zeal for it! My friends and relatives often joke and comment that I am 'very enthusiastic,' 'borderline obsessed,' and 'if there's ever a contest about Game of Thrones, I want you on my team.'

I also love all the wonderful Game of Thrones fan threads and other amazing websites. I have included many of them on my blog as links and will continue to do so!

Only 226 more days until Season III!

John Picacio

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , ,

I came across an artist named John Picacio. His work in a word: OUTSTANDING. I consider myself to have some talent, where drawing and painting are concerned.

Well, not anymore! He has some beautiful portraits of the characters in "A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones." Well done, sir! *loud applause*

I am so going to follow this guy on Twitter! I love anything and everything associated to George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series! Please, if you follow my blog, take the time and click on the link called "John Picacio Website." This man is VERY talented!

Excessive?!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , ,

Seeing as how I have a lot of free time on my hands (I'm an unemployed teacher who has been avidly looking for work the past year and a half while applying everywhere and volunteering where I could), I find that logging onto Pinterest is quite fun.

Except the fact that the rest of my boards are sadly neglected. They all have an average of 100 to 150 pins. Except "A Song of Ice & Fire: A Game of Thrones."

1573 pins isn't excessive. Right?!

Pinterest Phenomena

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , ,

At present, I now have 1,086 pins on my Pinterest A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones board.

Yes, I love the books and the HBO show.  I also have quite the following, which I find is quite flattering and humbling. Lots of followers, lots of re-pins. NIIIIICE.

Yes, I Have a GoT Board on Pinterest

Author: Anonymous / Labels: ,

Like any devoted fan of Game of Thrones, you will find the novels in my house, stacked neatly on my bookshelf. Actually, truth be told, I have two sets of them. I have the large novels that were signed by George R R Martin himself and then I have another set, so if any friends or family members want to borrow them, they can.  I also have a lot of pictures from the book signing. I have the first graphic novel, too.

I'm going to purchase the drinking steins from Chapters. I have two copies of Rolling Stone Magazine - the one with Peter Dinklage on the cover - also included in the bookshelf.  I have the first season on Blu-Ray DVD and it'll only be a matter of time before I purchased the brand new PS3 Game of Thrones game.

Either I am a devoted fan or I have way too much time on my hands. I told my husband that whenever my birthday or Christmas rolls around, any gift that is Game of Thrones related is a good one to get. You won't go wrong in that department.

Alas, I digress (apologies for doing so). So, I'm on Facebook, Twitter and have this blog. I decided, about a month ago, to join Pinterest. I have about 9 boards. The one that I'm most proud of (of course!) is "A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones."  I have 304 pins to my credit. Before the day is through, there'll be at LEAST 25 more!

What can I say? I am in love with all things wonderful, wacky and whimsical....when it comes to A Song of Ice and Fire!

Blackwater Bay!!

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I've been thinking, while I was driving around today, running some errands. When I think of Game of Thrones, my mind is filled with all sorts of possibilities. But that's a whole other blogspot.  In honour of tomorrow night's EPIC episode, "The Battle of Blackwater Bay," two songs come to mind.

The first was Thin Lizzy's, "Jail Break," because there are several lyrics that are very appropriate for tomorrow night's battle sequences. The second song - and probably more ominous - is AC/DC's "Hell's Bells." Why that one, you ask? Well, um, hello?! Seven Gods in Westeros - the Old and the New....and because there is going to be a lot of action that goes down tomorrow night.

Some of the characters are going to survive. Others won't be so lucky. Certainly...some characters deserve to go to the deepest, darkest hell in Westeros, for all the misery and destruction they've caused in the last two seasons.

(I am aware that by rooting for the Lannisters, I am leaving myself open to criticism) I want to make it perfectly clear that I am NOT rooting for Prince Joffrey. Tyrion, show your animal side. After all, your sigil is a lion!

T-minus 34 hours and counting!

HBO Watch

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , ,

I sent HBO Watch an e-mail, expressing an interest in wanting to be a guest blogger for Game of Thrones.
Yes, I guess you could say that I'm a tad bit obssessed with George R R Martin's fantasy epic "A Song of Ice and Fire." I love reading and blogging, so c'mon, HBO Watch! I'm patiently waiting for you to respond back. You guys advertised that you wanted fans to write for you! I'm a fan, here I am!

A Feast for Crows

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , ,

Officially started reading "A Feast for Crows." This is - for those of you who don't know - the fourth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, written by George R. R. Martin. So far, it was a little slow for me, I think because I'm still watching the second season and don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Then again, I really do enjoy reading about new characters and seeing how the story line is developing. I'll think I'll just stay the course.

A New Generation of GoT Fans

Author: Anonymous / Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

It just occurred to me: George R. R. Martin wrote the first three books of "A Song of Fire and Ice" in the late 1990's and early 2000s. Which means that when book number four and five came out, people began to flock to those ones just as quick! Of course, with HBO creating and producing the hit series "Game of Thrones" in April 2011 and 2012, the audience for his literary works has now doubled, or perhaps tripled. I am a fan, no doubt.

Soon, there will be a new member in my family, a nephew (who is due anyday now) and you know what that means, don't you? I'm going to have to purchase his first Game of Thrones t-shirt, lunchbox, bottle, etc. When I was little, both my older brothers and I were major "Star Wars" fans. We had the bedsheets, the toys, the lego and the lunchboxes. Three cheers for "Star Wars" & "Game of Thrones!" May the fans carry on all the funny and silly traditions that go along with popular films and book series!
